The most important decision in any deck build is the timber. We work with all the main NZ decking timbers and can source exotic hardwoods on request.
Treated Pine
BudgetThe most affordable NZ decking option. H3.2 treated pine is widely available, easy to work with and takes stain well. Best for covered or semi-sheltered decks.
Kwila (Merbau)
PopularOne of NZ's most popular hardwoods. Deep reddish-brown, naturally durable and resistant to rot and insects. Excellent for exposed outdoor decks on the Kāpiti Coast.
Garapa
PopularGolden Brazilian hardwood that weathers to a beautiful silver-grey. Harder than Kwila and naturally resistant to decay — ideal for coastal environments like Raumati and Paraparaumu.
Vitex
PopularLight golden hardwood with excellent durability. Very popular in NZ for its warm tone, stability in coastal conditions and long lifespan with minimal upkeep.

Site Visit & Free Quote
We visit your property, assess the site, discuss your timber and balustrade preferences and give you a clear fixed-price quote. No obligation.
Design & Consent
We finalise the design, confirm timber selection and handle any council consent requirements if needed for your build.
Substructure
Piles, bearers and joists are installed in treated pine — the foundation of every great deck. We don't cut corners on what you can't see.
Decking Boards & Stairs
Top decking boards are laid in your chosen timber, followed by any stairs — all built to match the deck style and finish.
Balustrades & Finishing
Timber or glass balustrades installed to code, followed by all finishing works, oiling or sealing as required for your chosen timber.

What Does a Deck Cost in NZ?
Prices below are approximate installed costs including labour, substructure (piles, joists, bearers in treated pine) and top decking boards. Balustrades and stairs are additional. All prices excl. GST.
